Anastasia's Secret Month ago Then y'all should've supported them better. Every 2D movie after Lilo and Stitch flopped Greedy Disney isn't going to risk losing a cent. This is one of my all time favorite Disney songs. I find myself thinking about it quite often, despite not having seen Bambi in over 20 years. Also one of the most charming examples of musical onomatopoeia ive ever come across.
Yaya Bingi 4 months ago Hunter Prokurat Not all sequels and remakes are bad, you know. Some turn out to be better than the original. Mary Shearer 4 months ago Isn't that the truth! The animated movies now are computer generated and are all hyper! I hate them!
The old Disney animated movies were all hand drawn and beautiful and I love all of them! Pixar creates genuine works of art the computer is just a tool, the creative spark is always human and Disney itself is not beyond a true classic even these days.
Hard to fault a film like Moana, for example. There's a world outside of Disney. Studio Ghibli films are pretty incredible. Just kidding. The storm part always frightened me as a child. This film is a classic masterpiece, and I really hope they don't ruin it with a live remake like they did with The Lion King and Dumbo. Something interesting these old videos demonstrate when compared to modern film is the shift in tone cinema has undergone.
New films aim for flare, where old films leaned more towards emotion and charm. FelixMerivel 20 days ago I know, right? I rewatched Bambi some time ago, for the first time since childhood and I realised it doesn't actually have much of a plot. It's closer to Fantasia if anything, only the music is original.
J Clark It was a time that was way better than today, mate. We are de-evolving as a society, as indicated by our increase in crime and decrease in standardized test scores. Did you know that modern American students lag behind all other developed nations in math and science scores? J Clark When they say it wasn't about greed and everything else they mentioned, I think they don't mean the film industry as much as society as a whole.
I think they mean people, in general, were less focused on vices, social status, and glory, and more interested in appreciating the little things in life, which is why cinema had a much more calm and charming tone. I would also disagree with that notion though. I think there were lots of greedy and power-hungry people back then too. That's a fallacy. Well many directors cared, film was a bussiness even more than it is now back then. Every era of cinema has it's ups and downs.
Most films from this "classic" era the late s-the early s have been forgotten, like the obnoxious, gimmicky and glamourus vaudeville imitation musical films suffocating cinema from to and soap opera-esque melodramas made by an early Cecil B. DeMille, or the shlock made by AIP.
A century from now, I'm sure people will say the same things you've said about films today, the films that become classics or cult classics, and forget the bad films made now. Back when I was a kid, looking at the murky sky with thunderstorm imminent was a pure horror. The background music did an amazing job portraying the raging storm. This will be something that can be done only in those times. I find the people singing for the wind during the thunderstorm, quite haunting and creepy, and yet so beautiful.
It starts off as very cute and cheery and so forth. Baby Tails Year ago Same here! Stunt Roll 5 2 years ago Where do you see angels. King Hyperion 3 years ago MissFlow what happens? I never seen it. I'm in my mids now and watching this segment is like hearing the voice of an old friend. When I watched it with my own child, she would cuddle against me when this scene started, just like Bambi did with his Mama. Even now, whenever I hear it, I just want to hunker down and drift off to sleep. The chorus does an awesome job imitating the wind during the storm.
When you experience this as a child and then get to recall this memory time after time throughout the years, it's very powerful and so meaningful. They caught the animal movements perfectly. Doug R. I have other memories of reading the book. Jody Wellborn 8 months ago Not a very good way of describing Bambi. Happy to help! My daughter and I were wondering what the lyrics were. This is so helpful. During the forest fire, I screamed, yelled, and cried so hard my Mom had to take out of the theater. I was two years old in When I was little I used to listen to a Disney playlist and for some reason whenever this song would come on it would make me cry. I have no idea why but for some reason I couldn't listen to it without crying. Music inspires imagination, creativity, memories That's a big part of music's magic.
I honestly wonder about people that don't feel or get music. You can just feel the love the creators have for nature. I also like how the thunder and wind are instrumental and sung. It's a part of the song instead of just sound effects. I always loved how gradually this song started up, and how gentle the rain was to match the music.
S a f f r o n Year ago Medeea Vandici me too, I miss it so much. I love when the music is telling all the emotions. You can feel them without seeing the actual scene! Oldie but goodie. I prefer this old school cartoony-style.
Might it not have been simply that the stories didn't capture audiences? Story is everything. If a CGI film feels bad it is often that the script os bland. Script is everything. S a f f r o n Year ago Me too, this is undescribable. Oodles Loodles Year ago It was incredibly time consuming and costly to do traditional animation. As usual, profit and cost management overruled tradition. The whole song as a visual piece of art and also as a metaphor serves to remind us all that no matter who we are or what we go through, the sun always follows the storm.
I loved this scene as a little girl! Made me very nostalgic right now Brady Ryan 4 months ago Why would they care lol. My favorite scene in the movie, when I was a kid I loved to hear heavy rain and thunder. This was perfect to watch. I loved this movie so much the music, the art, and little Bambi Keep in mind, the movie was made over 70 years ago during the peak of World War 2.
This is my favourite scene in Bambi. This movie as a whole is my favourite Disney film. Bambi's expression of curiosity when the rain drops start falling is so sweet and innocent. Then when the lightening hits and Bambi is scared and panicking, the way his mum responds. She doesn't get up to protect him, doesn't say anything. She remains laying down letting him know she is there but also allowing Bambi to deal with what scares him.
Perfect depiction of how animals are. Gracious thoughts. This is arguably one of the most interesting and beautiful Disney musical compositions. It is so wise. Just like many things in life, it starts out happily with a cheery tune. Since change in life is truly inevitable - the simple rain soon turns into a thunderous night full of claps and wind. The choir imitating that menacing wind is truly sublime.
After enduring that scary night - soon morning comes and the simple April showers resume its course. I loved the rain drops , creating the music on the leafs , just pure genius , I always hum this , when we get rain in April , in Seattle , so yaa I sing the whole month of April. Rebecca H. What an under-appreciated work of art!
They don't do this any more, everything is plot based and people no longer understand the power of spending so much time and effort on individual background paintings and choreographing the animation with the music. B33st1ng 2 years ago Sturgill Simpsons sound and fury is a good modern visual and musical story, it's a lot more mature than Bambi though and includes 3D animation.
The fact that they were able to replicate the exact sound of wind is insane. Like if you pay attention to it, just listen for the harmonies between the parts. It must have been very hard to direct and sing. Props to them, especially for their time. It is around I wish disney would still make movies like this. The music was amazing so was the image. This song is the best love how it portrays a raging storm perfectly acutally anytime it rains I always think of this song it gets stuck in my head when that happens but I don't mind it's a very catchy song so I allow for it to be stuck in my head when ever I think of rain.
This was my childhood favorite movie And I always loved this part of the movie Watching it now years later, the musical effects were genius and extremely creative. One of the very best Disney songs. The realistic and beautiful artwork, the special effects, and the splendid choir make a wondrous performance in animation. Can I just say that the choir sounds like a group version of Bambi's mother singing a lullaby to Bambi or it's the forest singing the lullaby to Bambi? Because that's what it sounds like!
This generation's great grandparents sound so beautiful! This song definitely brought out the most reaction or emotion out of me as a child. I remember as a kid sitting on the couch and kicking my feet and bouncing in my seat at the start of the song. Than it would become happy again and I would creep back out of the blanket. It was also played in Bambi II. Drip, drip, drop Little April shower Beating a tune as you fall all around Drip, drip, drop Little April shower What can compare with your beautiful sound?
